ADDITIONAL EVENTS

Aside from musical tamburitza part, the organizer has planned various cultural and entertainment events. Main idea behind the organization of additional events during the festival is for “Tamburitza 2008” to be remembered and highly ranked cultural manifestation in our country.

- Art Colony

Art colony, as part of the Festival, is scheduled for the period between June 23rd and 29th, 2008. The artists will commence to work on their pieces of art even before that time and the exhibition will be held on June 27th.

This event will gather 10 renowned painters from Serbia and Vojvodina who create figurative paintings. This kind of painting is different from other kinds due to its clearness and concreteness of its form.

Theme of the painting is related to the Tamburitza Festival and Vojvodina’s plain folklore.  The Colony will start with its work before the Festival in order to have the artworks exhibited during the first days of the Festival. This way, the Art Colony participants will contribute to the wealth and diversity of the Festival.
The work of the artists will remain permanently the property of the organizer, and some of the artwork will remain the property of the village of Deronje.

- "Old timer" Rally Race (Novi Sad-Deronje)

During the “Festival Tamburitza 2008“a parade driving of rally automobiles of museological value from Novi Sad to Deronje will take place. The automobile part of the manifestation Taburitza 2008 is entrusted to AMK„Diplomat-Classic“club from Petrovaradin, which will present for this occasion some of its most valuable exhibits. Rally of the automobiles of museological value will start at 9a.m. in front of the Executive Council of Vojvodina.
40 teams from 7 countries from Europe and the world will compete in their vehicles produced between 1913 and 1977, to the finish in Deronje village. The main difference between rally race of automobiles of museological value and modern rallies is in their speed. In the rally race of automobiles of museological value it is important to be precise, not fast.
Women will give a special charm to the Festival. „Lady Cup“is part of the competition in which the ladies will drive automobiles and their presence will give a special charm to the whole race.
Although one would think that tamburitza and old time automobiles have nothing in common, the truth is different, they both have their roots in the tradition and represent a symbol of old times. This is why it will be very interesting to see how the sound of engine will harmonize with the sound of tamburitza, at the pleasure of the all present.


- Hackney-Carriage Parade

Hackney-carriage drivers from whole Vojvodina and neighboring countries will gather, wearing national gowns, to drive their loved ones and show all the attraction and beauty of hackney-carriage ride. The Festival visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the ride and sight seeing Deronje, surroundings and places of interest of this history rich region, followed by hot breath of harnessed horses, smell of old hackney –carriages and their drivers  who will proudly parade in their authentic national gowns.

- Regatta

At the day of the Festival regatta of vessels will start from Belgrade to be joined by vessels from other cities and places along the banks of the Danube. Final destination of the regatta is Deronje bank of the Danube-Tisza-Danube canal.

- Welcoming of the train "Romantika"

Train “Romantika” will drive from Belgrade, via Novi Sad all the way to the festival in  Deronje.  In this train the visitors will be provided the impression of traveling to past. Steam of the lazy steam engine and sounds of the tamburitza will shortly take the travelers from the reality and transport them back to the old good, romantic times.

- Folklore

Folklore stage performances will be held during the breaks between, before or after the Festival performances, depending on the program.

- Mutton Stew Competition (“Shepard Girl” -"Čobanica")

Competition in mutton stew cooking “Shepard Girl” will be organized during the Festival.

- Special guests of the Festival (singers, actors, writers)
